Our Mission
The Brotherhood of Elders Network (BOEN) is an intergenerational network of men of African descent dedicated to creating supportive environments where Black males can thrive. Our mission is rooted in advocacy, cultural preservation, and community wellness. We believe in fostering a community where Black boys and men are empowered to achieve their full potential.
Our Values
We envision a world where Black boys and men are supported in their journey to adulthood, equipped with the tools and opportunities to thrive, and connected to their cultural heritage. We strive for a society where their contributions are valued, their voices are heard, and their potential is realized.
Maat
Among our brothers, we practice Maat through cooperative decision-making, inclusive leadership, and fair treatment. We acknowledge our interconnectedness and that we each bring unique expertise and lived experience to the network to build power, reshape systems, and expand our influence over the decisions that impact our lives.
Ujima
We are guided by Ujima, the value of collective work. Together, we co-create a holistic network of strategies and resources on our own terms, and cultivate a strong, safe, and united support system for Black men, boys, and their communities.
Ubuntu
We hold Ubuntu, collective responsibility, as one of our highest principles. We are creating a Bay Area where Black men, boys, and families have the community, resources, and support they need to build and sustain intergenerational wisdom and self determination.
